Required Training Modules (Armed)

Illinois law is very specific about the training that new Security Officers must receive so that they can become licensed with the state. This entire 20-hour Unarmed Certification course consists of several training courses that you will need to complete before you will be issued a genuine State of Illinois Training certificate.

Once you receive your training certificate, you’ll need to provide that certificate to your employer.

The required online training modules are:

Weapon Retention Techniques

Ethical Considerations from the Use of Firearms   

Illinois Law of Arrest for Security Officers

Liability for Acts while Employed as a Security Officer

Each of these courses should have been unlocked in your control panel when you purchased this course. If you do not have access to all of the above-listed courses please check our support page for assistance. Online courses may be completed in any order. However, you must complete all courses before you will be issued a genuine State of Illinois Training certificate.

The modules that you will need to complete in person include:

Firearm Safety – completed in person.

Firearm Storage and Transportation – completed in person.

Cleaning and Maintenance of Firearms – completed in person.

Firearm Fundamentals (stance, grip, aiming, etc…) – completed in person.

Legal Use of Firearms Including Interaction with Law Enforcement – completed in person.

Use of Force Justifications, including Use of Lethal Force – completed in person.

Basic Range Instruction & Advanced (practical) Range Instruction (at least 8 hours ) – completed in person.

These training modules are in addition to the modules required for unarmed security officers.
