If you’re applying for your PERC card, you’re going to also need to provide fingerprints as part of your application.
Fingerprints for PERC need to be provided in an electronic format and need to be taken by a licensed Livescan finger print vendor. The Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR) licenses finger print vendors.

Live Scan Finger Prints
Live scan is an inkless electronic system designed to capture an individual’s fingerprint images and demographic data (name, sex, race, date of birth, etc.) in a digitized format that can be transmitted to the Illinois State Police (ISP) for processing. Once received for processing, the prints are then be forwarded to the FBI electronically for processing. All of this occurs within minutes and results in a biometric identification of an individual with little to no human intervention. Live scan can be used for criminal justice as well as non-criminal justice use such as licensing and employment.
In Addition to Fingerprints
In addition to fingerprints for your PERC application, you’re also going to need complete training within 30 days of getting hired for various professions including security. Your PERC may not valid without this training.
Locations to get Fingerprints for PERC
There are nearly 200 licensed Livescan fingerprints vendors in Illinois, able to take your fingerprints for PERC. Be sure to tell the vendor that your fingerprints are for PERC so they can properly code your TCN in their system. After they have taken your fingerprints, the vendor should provide you with a Transaction Control Number (TCN). You will provide this TCN to the state when you apply for your PERC card. Each vendor sets their own prices for their fingerprinting services. The cost of fingerprinting services varies based on factors like the type and number of fingerprints needed, vendor location and size, client type and order volume, and any additional services requested. Expedited services, bulk orders, and long-term contracts can also influence pricing.
